I believe that we all have a civic duty to make positive contributions to our society and to the world. There are many opportunities for us to get involved in our communities at the local level, and these are some of my favorite causes ...

For the past several years I have volunteered at various assisted living facilities in my community.  My activities involved taking the residents for a walk, playing ping pong with them, reading to them, helping them eat, and simply talking with them. Their most favorite pastime was my music performances on the piano and on the saxophone. In fact, one Fourth of July my brother and I performed a concert of patriotic songs on the trumpet and saxophone, which they all enjoyed!

In 2013, my family and I visited a school community in Tanzania, Africa. We had brought with us a variety of items, including school supplies, notebooks, crayons, markers, pencils, rulers, toothpaste and toothbrushes for dental hygiene, and some food items. All the kids we met were so happy to receive these items from us, and thanked us with a special song and dance performance. It was a very gratifying and memorable experience for us!
